In 2012, SportsLink International will be taking an U19 Girls team to compete in the world’s largest field hockey event, the USA Field Hockey’s National Hockey Festival, which traditionally attracts more than 3,500 athletes from around the world.
Held in Palm Beach, Florida from the 22nd – 25th November 2012, the festival caters for teams in U/16 & U/19 Girls, U19 Boys, Adult Womens & Adult Mixed
The festival is also the main recruiting event for US Colleges. All college & university coaches attend the event to run an eye over the best available talent on offer, with the best players offered scholarships to attend university the following year. These college scholarship can be worth up to $40,000 a year and include tuition fees, accommodation, board, training, uniforms and travel.
The last time we attended the Festival, three of our players were offered scholarships, with coaches also interested in 2 other players who did not wish to be considered. For those players interested we can assist in the process of applying for a scholarship. There is also a “Seniors Night” where players can speak to a number of coaches to find out more details while at the Festival. A number of coaches have already enquired as to who will be coming over as they are very interested in recruiting Australians.
As well as being a fantastic opportunity to play in this event, we also include a range of sighseeing trips to make this a unique holiday experience as well. The itinerary includes Los Angeles, Palm Beach, Miami and includes activities and sights including Hollywood, Universal Studios, Disneyworld and other local sights. A traditional Thanksgiving Dinner will also be included. Parents and other family members are also welcome to join the tour. The tour will be escorted by a suitably qualified coach and manager. The trip is strictly limited to 14 players.
